Posted on Chris Wakefield26/10/2026 Trekenning House exceeded all expectations. We were a family party, age range 84-6. We have been having a family holiday like this for about 10 years and this house was voted the best so far. There are no sea views like some other properties that we have stayed in but that was more than compensated by the large enclosed garden. There are a couple of excellent beaches, Mawgan Porth and Watergate Bay, very close by. Beds were comfortable, kitchen equipment of very high standard. Pool table and table football equipment was in good order and the record player with a selection of LP's from the 70's to 90's was great fun. We can also recommend the Choukette bakery in Newquay for celebration cakes.Posted on Jane Jackson15/09/2026 We hired this stunning home in Cornwall for a family holiday and were not disappointed. The facilities were exceptional and one day we hope to return.Posted on Anne Shrubshall13/08/2026 Trekenning House is the most amazing place for a group holiday, We were a party of 7 adults and 7 children, age 4 to 76. The house is beautifully presented, so much space for everyone. The kitchen is exceptionally equipped, everything you could need if cooking at home including a popcorn machine for film nights up in the cinema room. Walk in pantry kept groceries cool in the hot weather as well as 2 full height fridges and a freezer. Large utility room if you need to do laundry. Pool table and table football indoors, swings, table tennis, football and badminton outdoors plus the hot tub! Well maintained grounds with a wonderful patio area for the BBQ. Booking and checking in was so easy. Joe and Kate were very responsive with any queries we had both before and during our stay. Location is excellent, just 15 minutes to the nearest beach. Highly recommended.Posted on kathryn bailey28/07/2026 We have recently enjoyed a family holiday at Trekenning House. The house was exceptional, with plenty of spacious rooms, bedrooms and lovely bathrooms. Everything was perfect. We all loved the beautiful gardens where we were able to use the hot tub (also an outdoor shower which was extremely useful). The location was excellent for visiting villages and beaches in the Newquay area. We would love to return.Posted on Mike Graham03/06/2026 We had a wonderful week at Trekenning House, which was perfect for our extended family. The house is peaceful and spacious, and we loved playing in the gardens. Easy access to favourite beaches - great setup for a big family holiday...Posted on Andrew Kerrison10/05/2026 All reviews are 5* - that can’t be right - but it is! We stayed at Trekenning House April 26 to celebrate my birthday with 13 guests. The area and coast line are fantastic. The weather was perfect. Not many tourists clogging up the country roads. But the house is in another league. We’ve stayed at some gorgeous country hotels over the years (Babington House, Barnsley House, Crowley Manor) and Trekenning is very much in the same league as these (in my opinion). Obviously it’s self catered but the owners (who were super helpful throughout) recommended local services including Dean from ChefInMyHome who again elevated the whole experience. I genuinely can’t think of anything the house was lacking. If you could give 10 stars, I’d give it 11! Thanks for creating such a fabulous house Joe and Kate. I’ve recommended it to nearly everyone I’ve spoken to since we left!Posted on Sarah Stapleton07/05/2026 Great well equipped house with beautiful grounds. Close (driving distance) to well known local places of interest, padstow, port Isaac etc. Games room great fun for all ages as was badminton and table tennis. Hosts very accommodating for last minute unforeseen circumstances. Cannot recommend highly enough and would love to come back.Posted on Thelma Baldry01/02/2026 We spent Christmas 2025 at Trekenning House. We had such a wonderful time in this beautiful house and all of its gardens. We’d previously stayed for a long weekend and loved every part of the house. We vowed to have another holiday there as soon as we could. So when the opportunity arose to book for Christmas week, we decided it would be the perfect place and treat for our family, all 16 of us, (4 generations). The house is large with generous sized rooms and a beautifully equipped kitchen. Our grandchildren loved the cinema room and we all loved the games room. The separate lounge with log burner was beautifully adorned with a real Christmas tree and made for a magical Christmas room. The house was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed. The gardens are vast and well kept and our family loved the huge hot tub. Even my mum who has been poorly loved walking around the gardens and was able to manage all the paths and lawns. I have and will continue to genuinely recommend Trekenning house as a beautiful holiday home for a large family or a group of friends. The house is behind electronic iron gates with a long driveway to the house where there is plenty of parking. We love everything about it and the owners are wonderful to deal with, from start to finish they were kind, helpful and communicated quickly. We couldn’t ask for more. We made wonderful Christmas memories at this fabulous holiday home and really hope to stay again sometime soon. Before we even left our grandchildren were asking me, when could we come back, we all felt the same. Thank you to Joe and Kate for providing a truly fabulous holiday home and service which really is as beautiful as the website shows, in fact we think it’s better, as there are more wonders to be explored when you arrive. Thank you also to the Gardner, who was really helpful, chopped us plenty of logs and a pleasure to deal with. Here’s hoping we can go back soon xxPosted on Glenda06/11/2025 Just spent a fantastic weekend at this beautiful house with our large family. It’s set in such beautiful large gardens where the children could run and explore everywhere burning up excess energy!. On an evening it was lovely to sit and relax in front of the log fire in the snug or enjoy a game of pool in the Games room. There was so much to do and the House is situated not far from local beaches and amenities. Everybody had a great time and the children were really upset to come home!!! Will definitely be back.Google rating score: 5.0 of 5, based on 35 reviews
Full of charm and character with a contemporary interior, in the main entrance hallway you will find a dedicated storage area with plenty of space for coats and shoes, a quiet seating area to play chess, backgammon or snakes and ladders, and a toy chest to keep little ones happy with indoor and outdoor games.
To the left of the hallway is a cosy snug with deep sofas and window seats. Here you can relax after a fun-packed day in front of the wood burner to read a book or watch a movie on the Smart TV with Sky.
Adjacent to the snug is a large, well equipped and high specification kitchen complete with AGA, two ovens, induction hob, two full height fridges, two dishwashers, coffee machine, popcorn machine and walk-in pantry. Sit at the breakfast bar listening to music on the Bluetooth speaker while you plan the day, or maybe play a family boardgame at the kitchen table next to the original feature fireplace. A separate utility houses the washing machine, tumble dryer, freezer and microwave.
From the hallway you will also find the stylish formal dining room with padded armchairs for fourteen, dual aspect windows and original feature fireplace, a perfect space to celebrate special occasions or to simply gather friends and family together to make new memories. Why not book a private chef to take care of everything for an extra special evening?
Following on from the dining room is the impressive games room, a superb space to socialise and celebrate in or to simply escape a rainy day. Dual aspect windows offer great views onto the gardens whilst a patio door will lead you to the outdoor table tennis. Shoot some pool, get competitive at the football table, chat at the bar with a gin & tonic, unwind on the sofas watching the Smart TV or get in the groove listening to some classics on the record player or by playing your own collection from your smart device via Bluetooth.

South facing at the front of the house is the main lawn with a large outdoor dining terrace perfect for Alfresco dining and a summer BBQ, and decking where you can relax in the private seven-seater hot tub.
Through a wild flower garden you will discover another lawn ideal for a kick-about or a game of badminton, whilst younger ones may wish to explore the small wood and grounds in search of fairy doors, build a den or play on the rope swing amongst the trees.
